Drivers cheat death during Taiwan’s 7.2 magnitude earthquake

A video that has gone viral online shows some drivers cheating death after the boulders missed their cars in the powerful earthquake that struck Hualien, Taiwan on Wednesday.

The heart-stopping dashcam footage was recorded on Suhua Highway near Zhongren Tunnel. During the quake, a blue private car was seen suddenly coming to a stop and rapidly reversing.

In less than 20 seconds, several boulders fell onto the road during the landslide, with one huge rock striking the rear of the blue car.

The drivers then experienced a life-and-death moment within 30 seconds, narrowly escaping being crushed between the rolling boulders on the hillside.

The terrifying scene was recorded at around 8 am yesterday.

Some drivers were seen reversing their cars rapidly to escape from the dangerous spot.

It is unknown whether the blue vehicle driver has suffered from any injuries.
