With the impending opening of the Paris Olympics, the highly-anticipated quadrennial international sporting event that has captured global attention, Sino Group has geared up to present an exhilarating promotional program to cheer on our athletes and encourage community-wide participation in this sports extravaganza.

The “Cheer for Athletes” kick-off ceremony took place at Olympian City yesterday, marking the beginning of widespread enthusiastic support for our athletes across the city and the enjoyment of top-notch performances in a wide range of exciting competitions starting from July 26 to August 11.

The ceremony was officiated by The Hon. Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, JP, Vice President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and Chairman of the Hong Kong Olympic Fan Club; Mr. Benjamin Cabouat, Consul for Culture, Education, and Science of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau; Mr. Daryl Ng, Deputy Chairman of Sino Group; and Ms. Bella Choa, Director of Asset Management of Sino Group.

Athlete guests included former Hong Kong Olympic fencer Mr. Shawn Cheung; Hong Kong badminton player Angus Ng; Hong Kong breakdancers Mr. Sze Ka-yam – BBoy C Plus and Mr. Tsang Tsz-wa – BBoy Think, all of whom have represented Hong Kong in the Olympics.

Fok expressed his gratitude to Sino Group for their staunch support of sports over the years and for rallying the community together in support of local athletes. “With the backing of the Olympic Committee, the sports association, and the community at large, I have every confidence that they would achieve outstanding results,” he added. “I’d also like to take this opportunity to encourage the public to embrace the Olympic spirit and actively engage in sports.”

During the launch ceremony, former Hong Kong Olympic fencer Shawn Cheung shared his experiences and the support he received from the public. “Athletes face immense pressure in international competitions, but I believe they can turn it into motivation while staying confident and enjoying the competition,” he remarked. “This is my first venture as a commentator, and I aim to demonstrate professionalism through thorough preparation and research.”

To ensure that nobody misses the agony and ecstasy of the intense competitions, major shopping malls under Sino Group – Olympian City, tmtplaza, Citywalk, One North, China Hong Kong City, Gold Coast Piazza, Tsim Sha Tsui Centre, and Empire Centre, as well as Yue Man Square – will partner with major TV stations to showcase the exciting events on 430-inch high-definition TVs. Olympian City will go a step further by simultaneously broadcasting events from three different TV stations, catering to a diverse audience. Additionally, they will host a grand cheering event during the games, featuring numerous celebrity guests watching the games alongside citizens.

Within Olympian City, the atrium will be transformed into an athletics field with a purple lavender track, offering a communal viewing experience in front of the TV screen. Attendees can soak in the lively atmosphere of the Paris Olympics, cheer on the athletes, take photos, and try various interactive training equipment available on-site, allowing them to watch the games while staying active.

In addition, the Paris Olympics has introduced an ‘Online Marathon’ to allow everyone in Hong Kong to participate in the Paris event simultaneously. Simply use the designated mobile application during the Olympic marathon event on August 10 and 11. Upon completion, participants will receive a commemorative certificate.

To encourage citizens to join the online running, the malls are offering a special ‘City-Wide Running’ reward. Present the commemorative certificate for a chance to receive mall cash vouchers.

The malls will also launch the ‘City Gets Movin’ program, offering over HK$30 million in rewards like sports gifts, mall cash vouchers, and shopping discounts. Shoppers can enjoy the shopping experience while participating in activities and feeling the Olympic excitement.

During the promotion, the malls are collaborating with AlipayHK to offer over HK$1 million worth of discounts. Hong Kong users can get HK$100 off for spending HK$200 or more at the group’s malls using specified payment methods. They can also earn A. Points and triple points for certain transactions. Mainland China users can enjoy similar discounts by using the “Huabei” service. Don’t miss out on up to 50 percent off.
