Hat-trick hero Jordan justifies recalll

Chris Jordan took four wickets in five balls, including the third hat-trick of the T20 World Cup, as holders England qualified for the semi-finals with a 10-wicket thrashing of the United States in his native Barbados.

South Africa joined England in the next round after edging the West Indies by three wickets in a rain-hit match in Antigua.

All-rounder Jordan, 35, justified his recall in spectacular fashion with four for 10 in 2.5 overs as the United States were dismissed for 115. England captain Jos Buttler then led the chase with an unbeaten 83, featuring five sixes in an over from Harmeet Singh, as his side hit their target in a mere 9.4 overs.

“Unbelievable feeling, to restrict USA and do it in a special place like this is always nice,” said Jordan.

Buttler added: “I wanted to bring CJ back to add a bit of depth to the batting. He executed fantastically.”

The United States were 115 for six when Jordan, who was born and educated in Barbados, came on to bowl the 19th over.

He removed Corey Anderson for 29 with his first ball of the over. Two balls later, Jordan clean-bowled Ali Khan for a duck. Next ball Nosthush Kenjige was plumb lbw and Jordan then completed his hat-trick by dismissing Saurabh Netravalkar.
