HKT optical fiber repairs disrupted internet services in TST and Jordan for six hours

Hong Kong Telecom’s internet services in Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui were disrupted on Tuesday for more than six hours due to damage to its optical fiber cable. The mobile communications and Now TV services were also affected.

HKT posted on its social page at noon today that emergency repairs are ongoing after one of its cables was damaged by a third-party project. However, as of 4 pm, the company said the repair work is still in progress due to the complexity of the site environment and engineering.

The telecom company apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused and appreciated their understanding.

The Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and Long Win Bus (LWB) customer service hotlines were temporarily unavailable due to the incident, but have since resumed after 6 pm.
