HKJC expects double-digit increase in bets as Mark Six snowball draws increase to 12: sources

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) expects to see an increase in double-digit betting amounts throughout the year after the announced increase in Mark Six Snowball draws, according to sources.

In order to meet the public’s demand for larger Mark Six Snowball prizes, HKJC said last week that the Snowball pool reserve will be increased starting tomorrow (May 21).

That will facilitate more Snowball draws with a bigger First Division Prize Fund going forward.

Sources said by boosting the Snowball reserve pool, the number of Snowball draws each year will progressively increase from approximately seven to a maximum of 12 starting next year.

The First Division Prize of some Snowball draws will increase substantially to a maximum of HK$100 million in the future.

At the same time, the maximum bet amount is expected to increase by double digits year-on-year, sources added.

The upcoming Snowball, which will be held during the Dragon Boat Festival, could have a larger First Division Prize Fund than the minimum of HK$38 million last year.

The HKJC will continue to optimize the mobile software in the future and review the market response to the minimum amount of Snowball and the possibility of other new Mark Six lottery methods to cater to the public’s needs.
