Retired train cars to be displayed in new Hung Hom station exhibition

To celebrate the 45th anniversary of serving Hong Kong, the city’s railway operator MTR will launch a brand new railway exhibition named “Station Rail Voyage” at Hung Hom Station starting next Saturday, with various retired train cars to be exhibited.

The retired train cars to be displayed include the first-generation electrified trains dubbed “Yellow Head Trains” serving the then Kowloon-Canton Railway, the mid-life refurbished trains known as “Fly Head,” and the diesel-electric locomotive No.56 named “I. B. Trevor”.

Additionally, over 100 railway artifacts will be showcased, including several items on loan from railway staff members of different eras.

The exhibition is located at Hung Hom station’s Intercity Through Train section. It consists of three exhibition zones with different themes, which include history, education, and leisure elements.

Visitors will be able to listen to station announcements from MTR-operated stations worldwide and virtually wear uniforms of different eras, simulating the experience of MTR staff members. Each visitor will also receive one randomly distributed commemorative reprint ticket.

The exhibition will be open to the public for free admission by reservation on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays starting from next Saturday.

Starting this Saturday at 10 am, the public can make online reservations within the next 30 days. Each visit will last for 75 minutes, with a maximum capacity of approximately 100 people per session. The exhibition is scheduled to run until the end of this year.
