Tourism Board invited over 350 influencers to tour Hong Kong last year

The city’s Tourism Board had last year invited over 350 influencers from the mainland, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Spain to tour Hong Kong in a bid to promote the city, according to the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.

Among them was video creator “Beautiful Destinations”, having over 30 million followers. Local artist Fiona Sit was also one of the influences invited to promote Hong Kong with her 11 million followers.

The bureau said the board invited industry professionals, artists, and influencers to shoot over 330 short videos featuring Hong Kong, including travel experiences in urban oasis settings. These videos were showcased on more than 3,000 platforms worldwide, reaching a total audience of 200 million people.

The bureau also noted that an increasing number of mainland Chinese tourists are seeking popular photo-worthy spots and exploring Hong Kong’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and artistic delights based on online recommendations.

Since last year, Hong Kong has consistently ranked as the top outbound destination for users of Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, said the bureau, adding that the Tourism Board had invited influential bloggers and content creators with large followings on such platforms to experience Hong Kong.

The tailor-made itineraries for the influencers were expected to build a positive reputation for Hong Kong tourism.
